Innovation on Boards

Being nationally-recognised for your work isn’t something that happens everyday!

I’m honoured to be announced as one of Australia’s Most Innovative Engineers for 2020! I’m very privileged to make this list alongside some incredible people doing some amazing work across the country.

This recognition in the General Industry category is a result of raising awareness about the need for ‘Engineers on Boards’ and encouraging engineers to consider board work given only 3% of board directors come from a STEM background (less for engineers).

As accountants and lawyers are important to a board’s compliance, so are engineers particularly those boards responsible for physical assets and infrastructure.

My work in this space also includes the recent release of my book ‘Fly to the Boardroom: Your Essential Guide to Getting on a Board’. I wrote this to help demystify the world of board and provide a practical guide to finding the right board role.

I love that my work gets to raise others… ‘The Fly to the Boardroom book and online course has been an eye-opener for me and a huge inspiration for me to follow my dream. Thank you, Stacey, for sharing your story and to show the way, a way that many of us did not know existed prior to this course or reading this book’.

Thank you to the judges and Engineers Australia, and a big congratulations to all the other innovative engineers acknowledged this year!

‘Expect the unexpected’ are the words from a successful former American football coach, Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant. Then recall life…
